Glorious Heavenly Father, we humble ourselves under Your mighty hand. Without You we are nothing, have nothing and can do nothing. But, we know of Your great love towards us who believe. Praise You. We know that with Your help we can do all things. Praise You. We know that Your faithfulness reaches to the sky and beyond. Praise You. We know that You are coming back for us. Praise You. Help us to love; to be obedient and to be light to others. Protect us in the coming months and please provide for us, Your children. Most importantly dear Daddy, help us to know the mind of Christ and to have the mind of Christ. We love you. AMEN.
The intensity of spiritual attacks seem to be increasing. I am not talking about circumstances during this discourse, but about our thought life. The satanic whisperings in your ears from the devilish hordes unleashed against us. We have the eye gate. What we look at goes directly to our heart. Images will cause us to think in a certain way. The ear gate is really important too because this is the same gate which the Word uses to access our heart. But, the music we listen to etc., demands thinking too. The soul gate is the gate we will talk about mostly during this message. This is where very private and personal struggles are taking place. The devil uses this one most. As a side note, I would like to mention the only outgoing gate we have. The mouth gate. What are you talking about? This gate can spew forth filth and unbelief or it can be a stream of living water to yourself and all those around. As you can see, the battle is between our ears. Let's talk about the soul gate.
9But as Scripture says: "No eye has seen, no ear has heard, and no mind has imagined the things that God has prepared for those who love him."10God has revealed those things to us by his Spirit. The Spirit searches everything, especially the deep things of God. 11After all, who knows everything about a person except that person's own spirit? In the same way, no one has known everything about God except God's Spirit. 12Now, we didn't receive the spirit that belongs to the world. Instead, we received the Spirit who comes from God so that we could know the things which God has freely given us. 13We don't speak about these things using teachings that are based on intellectual arguments like people do. Instead, we use the Spirit's teachings. We explain spiritual things to those who have the Spirit.14A person who isn't spiritual doesn't accept the teachings of God's Spirit. He thinks they're nonsense. He can't understand them because a person must be spiritual to evaluate them. 15Spiritual people evaluate everything but are subject to no one's evaluation. 16"Who has known the mind of the Lord so that he can teach him?" However, we have the mind of Christ. I Corinthians. Study and get into the Word. Then you will have a choice: the mind of Christ or the thoughts of fear and chaos.
3Of course we are human, but we don't fight like humans. 4The weapons we use in our fight are not made by humans. Rather, they are powerful weapons from God. With them we destroy people's defenses, that is, their arguments 5and all their intellectual arrogance that oppose the knowledge of God. We take every thought captive so that it is obedient to Christ. II Corinthians. You cannot think two thoughts at one time. When you discern a thought is not pure and good, then replace it with the Word.
14"I am the good shepherd. I know my sheep as the Father knows me. My sheep know me as I know the Father. 15So I give my life for my sheep. 16I also have other sheep that are not from this pen. I must lead them. They, too, will respond to my voice. So they will be one flock with one shepherd. 17The Father loves me because I give my life in order to take it back again. 18No one takes my life from me. I give my life of my own free will. I have the authority to give my life, and I have the authority to take my life back again. This is what my Father ordered me to do." John 10. If you are born from above, then you do know the voice of the Lord. HE IS ALWAYS TALKING..ARE YOU LISTENING?
15God lives in those who declare that Jesus is the Son of God, and they live in God. 16We have known and believed that God loves us. God is love. Those who live in God's love live in God, and God lives in them. 17God's love has reached its goal in us. So we look ahead with confidence to the day of judgment. While we are in this world, we are exactly like him [with regard to love]. 18No fear exists where his love is. Rather, perfect love gets rid of fear, because fear involves punishment. The person who lives in fear doesn't have perfect love. 19We love because God loved us first. 20Whoever says, "I love God," but hates another believer is a liar. People who don't love other believers, whom they have seen, can't love God, whom they have not seen. 21Christ has given us this commandment: The person who loves God must also love other believers. I John 4. If we are connected to God (LOVE) through fellowship and consecration, then we have His love in us. When fear knocks on your door (and it will) then stand in your love fellowship with the Almighty One and fear must go. He will give you peace, strength and whatever you need. Trust Him !! We will talk more about our thought life, where it relates to the soul gate, later in this message.
Another gate satan is using, to nudge us off the path of holiness, is our eye gate. You can't hardly turn your computer or TV on anymore without being bombarded by content which is sexual in nature. Practice focusing on Christ Jesus during these attacks. Within yourself...gaze upon the cross. God's love, high and lifted up. Once again, you can't think two thoughts at the same time. Force yourself to push wrong thoughts down. Think and speak the Truth you have hidden in your heart. Practice these things now because things are going to get much worse. Much, much worse. The Holy Spirit will keep you and help you my special friends. That's His job. Get as close to Him as you can. NOW, WHILE IT IS STILL DAY.
Circumstances will arise which will either take you away from the King of Glory, or draw you nearer. If you let them. Things such as the cares of life; financial troubles; sickness and loss of loved ones. I know that I said above we would not focus much on circumstances, but we must spend a minute or two because they are real and very powerful. Even your circumstances will cause your thought process to be activated. God uses the troubles of life to produce faith in us and to grow us up. Realize that God is in control. Embrace your trials and know in your hearts they will work out for your good.
28We know that all things work together for the good of those who love God-those whom he has called according to his plan.Romans 8.
Stand in faith against each obstacle. What does that mean? As a refresher, consider this. Faith comes from hearing the Word. Find out what God says about something and then stand on it. Believe it. Speak it. Believe it....speak it. Faith calls those things which are not as if they already are. Stand on the Word regardless of what you see or feel. There are verses to cover every circumstance which may come our way. For example:
For to this you were called, because Christ also suffered for us, leaving you an example, that you should follow his steps, 22 who did not sin, "neither was deceit found in his mouth." 23 Who, when he was cursed, didn't curse back. When he suffered, didn't threaten, but committed himself to him who judges righteously; 24 who his own self bore our sins in his body on the tree, that we, having died to sins, might live to righteousness; by whose stripes you were healed. 25 For you were going astray like sheep; but now have returned to the Shepherd and Overseer of your souls. I Peter 2.And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may be with you for ever, 17 even the Spirit of truth: whom the world cannot receive; for it beholdeth him not, neither knoweth him: ye know him; for he abideth with you, and shall be in you. John 16,17.
21 Beloved, if our heart condemn us not, then have we confidence toward God. 22 And whatever we ask, we receive of him, because we keep his commandments, and do those things that are pleasing in his sight. I John 3.
So I say to you, Take no thought for your life, about food or drink, or about clothing for your body. Is not life more than food, and the body more than its clothing? 26 See the birds of heaven; they do not put seeds in the earth, they do not get in grain, or put it in store-houses; and your Father in heaven gives them food. Are you not of much more value than they? 27 And which of you by taking thought is able to make himself a cubit taller? 28 And why are you troubled about clothing? See the flowers of the field, how they come up; they do no work, they make no thread: 29 But I say to you that even Solomon in all his glory was not clothed like one of these. 30 But if God gives such clothing to the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is put into the oven, will he not much more give you clothing, O you of little faith? 31 Then do not be full of care, saying, What are we to have for food or drink? or, With what may we be clothed? 32 Because the Gentiles go in search of all these things: for your Father in heaven has knowledge that you have need of all these things: 33 But let your first care be for his kingdom and his righteousness; and all these other things will be given to you in addition. Matthew 6.
During your trials and pressures of life...put on God's armor.
10Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his might. 11Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil. 12For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places. 13Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand firm. 14Stand therefore, having fastened on the belt of truth, and having put on the breastplate of righteousness, 15and, as shoes for your feet, having put on the readiness given by the gospel of peace. 16In all circumstances take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming darts of the evil one; 17and take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God, 18praying at all times in the Spirit, with all prayer and supplication. Ephesians 6.
Before we leave the subject of circumstances and the cares of life, let us bathe ourselves a little more with the sweet healing Word's of the Holy Spirit. We have talked about this in past messages, but we must get it deep down into the core of our being. We must, we most certainly MUST....know how much God loves us.
31What shall we say about such wonderful things as these? If God is for us, who can ever be against us? 32Since he did not spare even his own Son but gave him up for us all, won’t he also give us everything else? 33Who dares accuse us whom God has chosen for his own? No one—for God himself has given us right standing with himself. 34Who then will condemn us? No one—for Christ Jesus died for us and was raised to life for us, and he is sitting in the place of honor at God’s right hand, pleading for us.
35Can anything ever separate us from Christ’s love? Does it mean he no longer loves us if we have trouble or calamity, or are persecuted, or hungry, or destitute, or in danger, or threatened with death? 36As the Scriptures say, “For your sake we are killed every day; we are being slaughtered like sheep.” 37No, despite all these things, overwhelming victory is ours through Christ, who loved us.
38And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God’s love. Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow—not even the powers of hell can separate us from God’s love. 39No power in the sky above or in the earth below—indeed, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans 8.
As stated before, this message is more focused on the invisible attacks against us. The satanic whisperings. From what I gather so far, these attacks are aimed at 4 main areas. Waves and waves of satanic barrages trying to destroy: 1.) Your absolute trust in Almighty God. 2.) Your relationship with others. 3.) Your love walk (by keeping you focused on fear) and 4.) Your confidence of eternal salvation. The last one is where I want to focus on today, dear hearts. The joy of your (and mine) salvation. When this battle is won, then the war will be won also.
We cannot save ourselves. It is by the grace (power) and mercy of Almighty God. He paved the way. The way is through believing. That's right, simply believing. Have faith in what God provided for you in Christ Jesus. Believe that your sins are forgiven. Believe that God loves you. believe everything God says in His Word. Hear it. Believe it, and above all, DO IT. This is faith and it is ever increasing. Just like your love and hope. But, how do you hold onto such a wonderful and glorious salvation? The devil will come and attempt to destroy your faith. How do we act when he comes? Beloved, hold that thought for a moment.
The picture of Autumn colors shown at the beginning is an example of how I feel about my soul when it waivers. I see autumn as a season which is stuck between life and death. I too feel that way at times when I doubt my salvation.
Have you ever doubted the assurance of your salvation? I have. Many, many times. It's a plot and scheme straight from the pit of hell itself. How does it start? Self condemnation. That's the number one lie the devil begins with. I do something my flesh desires, such as getting angry and saying things which hurt everyone within hearing distance. Including myself and my beloved Jesus. Then the satanic whisperings begin. "Kenny G., how can you act that way if you are born again?" From there it snowballs and I continue to listen.
"Look at all the evil you have done in your life, you haven't changed!" he whispers. Woe is to me, I continue to listen as the father of lies diligently drags me deeper and deeper into his bosom of darkness. "You can't be born again, you have done something so evil that you are discounted from salvation," he chants. I am beginning to feel heavy and dead inside. A hatred for myself and anger against God begins to form in my soul as it is carried away to the despairing world of doubt and unbelief.
Why be angry with God you may ask. With great shame and remorse, I will share with you my darkest secrets. First, let me proclaim to you that there is a happy ending. I tell you these things because there are others out there going through the same things. I digress. Yes, unfortunately, I allowed the slimy one to persuade me to hold a grudge against God Almighty, the lover of my soul. As I reasoned with demons, I concluded that: "if I am not capable of being born again, then God created me to go to hell."
There, deep things from my soul has been revealed. What an ugliness you might say. I agree. But, if we don't cast down the unholy thoughts from the onset, they WILL spiral out of control. How does the story end? Let me tell you. After about a day (it used to be days and of this writing it has come to minutes...glory be to God) the darkness begins to subside. The light begins to dawn again. Not because of something I did, but because of His mercy and faithfulness to deliver His child.
The balm of love everlasting, broke through the cloak of lies and touched me. Ever so gently, my loving Father and my Jesus (through the ministry of the Holy Spirit) laid His head upon my breast. Nothing was spoken at this moment. The divine comfort was dispelled and my soul was brought back to the assurance of my unbreakable relationship with the Holy One of Israel. As the closeness of hearts became clearer, so did my souls remorse. Godly sorrow ensued because I had sinned against my God, and Him alone. This time I put my head on His breast as tears rolled from both our eyes. For me, the tears were tears of repentance. From the eyes of God, tears fell because of love and forgiveness. I AM BORN AGAIN, AFTER ALL !!
Extra ingredients to add to our food (thoughts) from the throne:Knowing that heroes of faith (both in scripture and still living) have gone through similar testings, give me great comfort. Of course, comfort comes from the living Word too. Let's dive into both.
Consider King David. God called him, "a man after My own heart." David encountered more enemies (visible and invisible) than anyone I know. He was downcast about Saul trying to kill him. He lived with guilt and shame over the murder and adultery he committed. he watched his own son raise up an army against him. He suffered the agony of losing many, many loved ones. He became depressed in his soul over his best friend, and covenant partner, turning his back on him. Such was his depression that he looked for a place to hide. A place to hide from God.
7Where can I go from Your Spirit?
Or where can I flee from Your presence?
8If I ascend to heaven, You are there;
If I make my bed in Sheol, behold, You are there.
9If I take the wings of the dawn,
If I dwell in the remotest part of the sea,
10Even there Your hand will lead me,
And Your right hand will lay hold of me.
11If I say, “Surely the darkness will overwhelm me,
And the light around me will be night,”
12Even the darkness is not dark to You,
And the night is as bright as the day.
Darkness and light are alike to You. Psalm 139.
Nor chasten me in Your wrath.
2Be gracious to me, O LORD, for I am pining away;
Heal me, O LORD, for my bones are dismayed.
3And my soul is greatly dismayed;
But You, O LORD—how long?
4Return, O LORD, rescue my soul;
Save me because of Your lovingkindness.
5For there is no mention of You in death;
In Sheol who will give You thanks?
6I am weary with my sighing;
Every night I make my bed swim,
I dissolve my couch with my tears.
7My eye has wasted away with grief;
It has become old because of all my adversaries.
8Depart from me, all you who do iniquity,
For the LORD has heard the voice of my weeping.
9The LORD has heard my supplication,
The LORD receives my prayer.
10All my enemies will be ashamed and greatly dismayed;
They shall turn back, they will suddenly be ashamed.Psalm 6.
Don't you imagine, that this great King, suffered with the satanic whisperings and battle with unbelief like we all? Yet, God brought him through every time. He will bring you through too. His faithfulness reaches to the sky and beyond. He is God and there is none like Him. How do I know that He will bring you through every battle you face? Because He says so !
1 But now thus said the LORD that created you, O Jacob, and he that formed you, O Israel, Fear not: for I have redeemed you, I have called you by your name; you are mine.2 When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow you: when you walk through the fire, you shall not be burned; neither shall the flame kindle on you.
3 For I am the LORD your God, the Holy One of Israel, your Savior: I gave Egypt for your ransom, Ethiopia and Seba for you. Isaiah 43.
Consider the temptation of Jesus.
1Then Jesus was led by the Spirit into the desert to be tempted by the devil. 2After fasting forty days and forty nights, he was hungry. 3The tempter came to him and said, “If you are the Son of God, tell these stones to become bread.”
4Jesus answered, “It is written: ‘Man does not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.’ ”
5Then the devil took him to the holy city and had him stand on the highest point of the temple. 6“If you are the Son of God,” he said, “throw yourself down. For it is written:
“‘He will command his angels concerning you,
and they will lift you up in their hands,
so that you will not strike your foot against a stone.’ ”
7Jesus answered him, “It is also written: ‘Do not put the Lord your God to the test.’ ”
8Again, the devil took him to a very high mountain and showed him all the kingdoms of the world and their splendor. 9“All this I will give you,” he said, “if you will bow down and worship me.”
10Jesus said to him, “Away from me, Satan! For it is written: ‘Worship the Lord your God, and serve him only.’ ”
11Then the devil left him, and angels came and attended him. Matthew 4.
Even the Son of God underwent the crucible of tempted thoughts. In His case, the devil wanted Jesus to question within Himself, whether or not He was truly the Son of God. This passage is very important because it shows us the method of satan, and God's prescription. The devil is the father of lies and he wants to make us believe a lie. Jesus showed us that the way to combat this slippery weasel, is to speak God's Word about the situation. Light always overcomes darkness. Truth always vanquishes the lie.
I would like to share something personal with you in closing. Like I haven't shared enough already. Let me start with a picture.
May I add something from the Word to go along with this most beautiful picture?
1“Do not let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God; trust also in me. 2In my Father’s house are many rooms; if it were not so, I would have told you. I am going there to prepare a place for you. 3And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am. John 14.I shout "HALLELUJAH" with a voice of triumph. Come dance with me beloved. Why all the jubilation? Why the picture of spring? Because of the mercy and faithfulness of God. Because of the washing of the Word...giving me a new mindset. The veil has been lifted. Like the flowers in springtime, I too have resurrection flowing in my veins. I am a new creature in Christ Jesus. I guess I am born again after all. You can be too........if you believe !!
