BEAR ONE ANOTHER'S BURDENS

Hey, did you like the bear thing? I have been wondering how I could use the picture of the ole Grizzly which I took while we were in the Smokey Mountains of North Carolina. OK, enough fun, let's get down to business. Father God, thank You for sacrificing Your Son on our behalf. Jesus, You are a true hero. We cannot even imagine what You went through for us in obedience to the Father. Help us to believe and walk out every command You have given us. Holy Spirit, please give us all the wonderful promises the Son died for to obtain for us. Give us a heart of flesh. Cause our will to come in agreement with Yours. Produce in us fruits of righteousness. The list can go on forever, we just know that we love You. We know that You love us. We know that You are coming back for us, Your precious children. We know that we need Your help. Come soon King Jesus. In His most beautiful name we pray....AMEN.

You know, the more I read the Word the more I realize that it is humanly impossible to perform what is requested without divine intervention. Oh God, thank you for the gift of the Holy Ghost !! Not only can I not measure up to the love walk required of us, but the more I read the more I realize that I fall short in so many areas. As soon as we think we have victory over a certain area in our life our wise Father shows us a few more which we need to come up higher in. What a struggle sometimes.....but what a joyful struggle it is. That reminds me of something my father has said to me from time to time. He said, "Why can't God just give me one thorn to keep me humble instead of a whole thorn bush?"

Let's get right into the Word shall we? Galatians 6:2 says, "Carry each other's burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ." The context of this passage is primarily talking about the burden of sin that our immature brother or sister is carrying. We should have mercy on them and be careful how we approach them (if we are led by God in love) because we could easily offend them. We must understand that we too have had to work through our shortcomings and many times it takes just that...time. We find another instance in which we should show mercy and that is found in Romans 15: 1-2. Here we see this: "We who are strong ought to bear with the failings of the weak and not to please ourselves. Each of us should please his neighbor for his good, to build him up. Once again we are told to have mercy, compassion and love for our weaker brethren. Boy, sometimes we just think we are all that and a bag of chips don't we?

And what is this "law of Christ" we read about in Galatians? Let's turn to Matthew 5:43-48 and find out together my dear ones. Jesus says, " You have heard it said, 'Love your neighbor and hate your enemy.' But I tell you: Love your enemies, and pray for those who persecute you, that you may be sons of your Father in heaven. He causes His sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and unrighteous. If you love those who love you, what reward will you get? Are not even the tax collectors doing that? And if you greet only your brothers, what are you doing more than others? Do not even pagans do that? Be perfect, therefore, even as your Father in heaven is perfect. Wow...Oh God help me please !!

So, we see that the "law of Christ" really sums up how we ought to conduct ourselves with our brethren and with our enemies. With everyone whom we come in contact with. It's called LOVE. Love carries the burdens of others. Love prefers others above ourselves. It screams.."who am I not to show mercy to others? Have not I been shown great mercy?" As we mature in this living thing called love, we will find ourselves having compassion on all humans. Jesus died for all mankind. Father God has placed great value on us all with hopes we will come to the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ. I keep having to remind myself (constantly it seems) that it is not about me. It's about God and His kingdom. Oh merciful God, please help me to come up higher in this love that You have shed in my heart by the Holy Spirit. Help me to shoulder the burdens of others. To be patient with the weaker in faith. To be quick to forgive less I put another burden on someone else. I WANT TO LOVE OH GOD...HELP ME TO LOVE !!
